techNL Industry Awards 

The fifth annual techNL Industry Awards celebrate the achievements of tech companies and innovators across Newfoundland and Labrador, recognizing work, milestones, and impact realized throughout 2025. By spotlighting these trailblazers, we celebrate success, inspire continued growth, and strengthen community across the province’s tech sector.

The awards will celebrate excellence from within Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector under the following five categories:

Tech Company of the Year Award

This award recognizes a technology company that has established itself as a leader in the Newfoundland and Labrador tech sector. The recipient demonstrates excellence in strategic product or service development, sustained business performance, and positive influence across the ecosystem. The company also shows a meaningful commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as part of how it builds strong teams and long-term success.

Startup of the Year Award

This award honours an early-stage technology company (less than four years old as of February 28, 2026) that has introduced something new to the market, is generating revenue, attracting talent, and creating significant excitement in the NL tech ecosystem.

Diversity in Tech Advocate Award 

This award honoursan individual, team/group, or organization/company in the tech sector that has gone above and beyondto encourage recruitment and retention of diverse people in tech and positively influence Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) in the workplace.

Champion of Youth Award

This award recognizes a company/organization that makes an effort to employ youth/young adults as part of the staffing model and plays a valuable role in the community for positive youth development in the NL tech sector.

Community Builder Award

This award is given to an individual, team/group, or company in the tech sector that has gone above and beyond to make a positive impact on their community through their contribution, commitment, and leadership in community engagement, mentorship, and/or charitable giving or volunteer work.

Nomination Rules

    1. Nominations must be submitted through the online form.
    2. Nominees may be nominated and/or awarded in multiple categories.
    3. Companies, organizations and individuals, may self-nominate. 
    4. Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee.
    5. A nominee’s supervisor, spouse, partner, or immediate family member may serve on the committee but must abstain from discussion and voting on said nominee.

Please note if any of the application responses should remain confidential. Unless otherwise noted, responses may be used to promote the winners.

Award Application Criteria

In order to qualify for this award, you or your company/organization must be:

    1. In the tech sector with a technology-based product, service, solution, system, or platform
    2. Based in Newfoundland and Labrador
    3. A techNL Member in good standing. To find out if an organization is a techNL member, you can check out our member directory.

Timeline

    1. Application portal opens: February 10th 2026
    2. Deadline to apply: March 10th, 2026 (11:59 PM NST) 
    3. Selection process: March 13 – 19th, 2026
    4. Award ceremony to announce winners: To be announced
