Digitalization in Oil and Gas

PROGRAMS

Digitalization in Oil and Gas

Digitalization of the oil and gas industry has the potential to reduce emissions, increase competitiveness and create employment. In collaboration with Energy NL, techNL began to investigate how to leverage this opportunity for its members. Various successful events were executed such as a Big Data Oil and Gas Forum, Hacking Oil and Gas Cafés, and the first ever Oil and Gas Hackathon in NL in 2019. These events, along with a report from the Digital Transformation Working Group, highlighted the need and creation of the Digital Oil and Gas Initiative (DOI).

With continued support from Energy NL, techNL will drive the DOI to work with key industry stakeholders to focus on the identification of value producing digitalization opportunities and conduct key strategic capacity building activities for local tech companies in the oil and gas sector. By expanding our local expertise and technology skill set through the digital transformation process, the DOI will spur innovation to deliver local digital solutions for the industry on the Field of the Future.

Building Connections

The DOI will engage with technology creators, facilitators, and adopters to understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities of digital technology in the Oil and Gas industry.  As a champion of the tech ecosystem, the DOI will connect solution creators with adopters as well as identify key partnerships and/or collaborations that will provide value added differentiators to meet current and future digital needs of the industry.

If you need assistance in building a connection, please contact Dwayne Hopkins.

Export Missions

The DOI will organize a trade mission(s) with a group of key partners to a strategic international location to identify leading practices and opportunities, establish necessary linkages with partners, and establish international networks.  These missions will focus on connecting local Newfoundland & Labrador technology creators with international facilitators and adopters.

If you are a tech company and would like to know more about up-coming trade mission(s) or require in-market research on entering an international market, please contact Dwayne Hopkins.
