Find Your Dream Job And Your Adventurous Spirit In The NL Technology And Innovation Sector. Tech companies seek professionals from different backgrounds and experiences. While some roles require specific experience, there are many opportunities for professionals with non-technology backgrounds to add value. There is no single way to get into these roles and the roles themselves are continuously evolving in the tech sector, but understanding what these roles entail and seeking a foundational education is the first step.
Sparking Innovation Virtual Learning Series
techNL has partnered with Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD) and PolyUnity Tech to provide 12 far-reaching, open-invite webinars for grades 7-12 to build awareness of the Newfoundland and Labrador tech sector, showcase in-demand career options, and promote diversity in technology.
Through the support of Jacqueline Lee, CEO PolyUnity and techNL Board Chair, and the Tequity+ group of women in tech, there are 12 inspiring female speakers lined up to share their passions and experiences with students. This will provide an opportunity for students to see the diversity in technology roles and career pathways, and provide insight into what a tech career could look like for them. Live chat features will be available as well as an open form for classes to continue the discussion and ask questions to speakers after the sessions.
A special thank you to partners at NLESD who have focused efforts to enhance opportunities for students to develop skills and pursue careers in digital technology. Together, the aim is to:
• Create more meaningful connections within and between our education system and the business community;
• Provide opportunities to learn and collaborate with students, teachers and administrators about the Newfoundland and Labrador tech sector, in-demand career options and pathways, and the diversity in technology; and
• Encourage all youth to consider STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers.
Live sessions are intended for NLESD Grade 7-12 classes and will run every two weeks starting April 3, 2023. Find recordings of the sessions below:
