Meridia Recruitment is excited to partner with techNL in seeking a Manager, Youth Education and Career Development. This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic and community-oriented individual to contribute to the growth and success of Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector. As part of a collaborative environment, the Manager will be responsible for leading the High School Tech Immersion Program (HSTIP) and related initiatives, ensuring the successful delivery of program objectives, and fostering strategic partnerships with employers, educators, students, and community stakeholders. This individual will also play a vital role in creating and overseeing impactful youth engagement and career development initiatives within the tech ecosystem.

What You Will Do:

  • Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with employers, funders, partners, and stakeholders. Lead regular reporting, progress meetings, and engagement with the program’s steering committee.
  • Program Leadership: Oversee the planning, implementation, and management of the High School Tech Immersion Program (HSTIP) and related initiatives that introduce high school students to Newfoundland and Labrador’s growing technology and innovation ecosystem.
  • Contract and Financial Oversight: Manage agreements with sponsors, training providers, and external evaluators. Maintain financial records and identify funding opportunities to sustain and grow the program.
  • Strategic Planning & Design: Identify needs and gaps through research and evaluation and creatively develop new approaches for expanded employer engagement and reaching equity-deserving groups.
  • Execute Expansion Plans: Strategically lead the Makerspace project, including development of programming, venue selection, stakeholder engagement, and marketing, with a goal of increased engagement with students and employers.
  • Strategic Engagement: Drive regional engagement efforts with students, employers, and partners, particularly in underserved regions and Indigenous communities across Newfoundland and Labrador. Strategically lead initiatives to engage equity-deserving groups in tech career exploration and sector awareness.
  • People Management: Manage the team in delivering high-quality, meaningful engagements that introduce youth to techNL members and support relevant skill development.

Who You Are:

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, or a related field is considered a strong asset; however, equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Program Management Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in program management, community engagement, or educational outreach with school-aged youth is required.
  • Community Engagement: Experience working with schools, high school youth, and equity-deserving communities to provide meaningful and engaging learning and development activities is required.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and evaluation of multi-stakeholder initiatives, plus experience with budgeting, contract management, and funder reporting.
  • Strategic Leadership: Strong initiative, organizational and communication skills, and strategic leadership skills.
  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in program delivery.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build relationships with partners, funders, and community organizations.
  • Tech Ecosystem Knowledge: Familiarity with the tech and innovation ecosystem in Newfoundland and Labrador is an asset.
  • Marketing Experience: Experience marketing educational programming to youth, especially with a focus on equity-deserving groups, is an asset.

Additional Details:

  • This is a full-time contract position, with the contract expiring on March 31, 2027.
  • The role involves primarily in-person work, with the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Employees are encouraged to be present in the office for all five workdays.
  • The role includes a mandatory group health benefits plan and 3 weeks paid annual vacation.
  • The techNL office is in St. John’s, NL. While most of the team works in-person in St. John’s, we are open to hiring a remote employee within Newfoundland and Labrador for this role if qualifications are met.
