About Us:
Copsys Technologies is a Newfoundland and Labrador-based technology start-up with big aspirations – advancing a disruptive new asset integrity management technology to commercialization.
Our flagship product, Copsys Intelligent Digital Skin (CIDS), offers a game-changing alternative to conventional corrosion management strategies through advanced digital asset integrity solutions for industrial, offshore, marine, and pipeline environments. CIDS is the first paint with feelings – capable of digitally detecting and locating coating barrier failure in real time and introduces a new electrochemical barrier against the onset of corrosion. CIDS is being developed as a connected technology platform that combines physical asset protection with real-time data, software-enabled monitoring, and customer-facing digital insight.
Copsys is currently advancing multiple CIDS applications from field validation toward commercial deployment. As we scale, we are building internal capacity across software/data workflows, AI-enabled tools, hardware/firmware coordination, field trial data analysis, customer demonstrations, partner engagement, proposal support, and commercialization readiness.

About the Role:
Copsys is seeking a recent graduate for an entry-level AI & Data-Enabled Project Engineering Associate role. The role will support the continued development and commercialization of CIDS by helping improve how technical information and field data move between devices in the field, cloud-based systems, dashboards, digital twin tools, and internal project workflows. The graduate will also support the use of AI and machine learning approaches to help Copsys better analyze field data, identify anomalies, understand system behaviour, and improve predictive insight over time.
This is an engineering-focused role for someone interested in project coordination, technical data, AI-enabled workflows, cloud-connected systems, field trials, digital tools, and customer-facing technology deployment. The successful candidate will help coordinate technical work between Copsys’ internal team, suppliers, software / hardware partners, customers, academic partners and graduate students.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support Copsys in areas such as:
- Assisting with project engineering, technical coordination, scheduling, and documentation.
- Supporting software, data, field deployment, and technical coordination activities for CIDS systems, with potential exposure to hardware, firmware, sensors, and controller-related requirements.
- Helping define and document technical requirements for controllers, firmware, data capture, cloud systems, dashboards, digital twin tools, and user-facing outputs.
- Supporting streamlined data flows between devices in the field, cloud platforms, dashboards, digital twin environments, and internal reporting tools.
- Organizing, cleaning, interpreting, and visualizing data from lab testing, field trials, controller outputs, and partner demonstrations.
- Supporting AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics workflows, including data preparation, trend identification, anomaly detection support, and model-development documentation.
- Helping create and use AI-enabled tools to improve technical workflows, research, documentation, project tracking, execution, and overall internal efficiency.
- Supporting field trial preparation, commissioning documentation, technology demonstrations, partner updates, and lessons-learned reporting.
- Working with customers, suppliers, software and hardware partners, technical personnel, academic partners, graduate students, and internal team members.
Qualifications
Applicants should be recent graduates from a recognized post-secondary institution in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
- Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Ocean & Naval Architectural Engineering, or Engineering Technology
- Software/Hardware Development
- Data Analytics
- Applied AI / AI Development
- Other related technical programs
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong interest in engineering, technology development, AI, data analysis, hardware / firmware-enabled products, and applied innovation.
- Comfort working across technical disciplines and communicating with engineers, developers, suppliers, customers, academic partners, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in using AI tools to create workflows, structure information, improve documentation, support technical analysis, and make project execution more efficient.
- Comfort working with data, spreadsheets, dashboards, reports, technical documents, and structured project information.
- Interest in machine learning, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, digital twins, cloud-connected systems, or field-deployed technology.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and technical problem solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes.
Additional Helpful Experience:
The following would be considered assets, but are not required:
- Familiarity with corrosion, coatings, asset integrity, marine systems, industrial equipment, or field testing.
- Familiarity with Python, Power BI, Microsoft Azure, APIs, cloud systems, or data pipelines.
- Exposure to AI tools, prompt development, machine learning, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, or technical automation.
- Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware, electronics, sensors, controllers, or hardware/software integration.
This position is funded through the Graduate Transition Initiative, delivered by techNL and the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development. The initiative provides support to eligible companies that hire recent graduates into software development and tech sales roles, providing meaningful early-career experience while supporting long-term growth in Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector.
Eligibility:
- Ability to work full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador starting July 2026.
- Legally entitled to work full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Completion (within the past two years) of a minimum one-year post-secondary or skills-training program at a recognized NL institution.
