Autonomous Operations

Xplorobot

XPLOROBOT enables workers in industrial facilities to optimize operations by deploying autonomous robots with multimodal sensing and live Digital Twin software for real-time analysis. We off-load routine tasks to robots so your workers can focus on value-adding tasks. Our software’s predictive capabilities reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

Prior to Xplorobot, hardware engineers drove the deployment of robots in industrial facilities. However, we recognized that the real impact of robotics lies in software rather than hardware. Xplorobot’s software allows our robots to identify objects, collect information, and derive intelligence from gathered data. We help your workers detect anomalies early and promote preventative maintenance. We bring the future of work to your facility.

Memorial University - Drilling Data Analytics

Drilling – A Digital Analytics Approach to Energy & Safety Improvements analyzes existing drilling data to make drilling operations safer and more energy efficient. Existing offshore NL drilling operations emits an estimated 150-200 KT/year of CO2 equivalent in energy usage not including any flaring or indirect CO2 associated with transportation, etc. The project is funded though the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Oil and Gas Economic Recovery Fund using Hibernia and Hebron data. The multidisciplinary project team is focusing on 5 challenges to reduce emissions and improve safety using drilling data analytics; Drilling roadmap optimization with a real-time fuzzy-logic control; Rock strength prediction ahead of the bit; Surge & swab optimization; Drilling parameter optimization (search space); and Drill-bit damage detection. The automated solutions to each challenge are being developed simultaneously using a data analytics approach and machine learning in an Agile methodology focused on delivering iterative minimum viable products (MVPs).

CORSphere

CORSphere is an industrial asset maintenance tracking software empowered through cross-platform data interconnectivity, collaboration between maintainers, and predictive analytics to reduce downtime. Through interviews with our potential customers, we have identified gaps in the existing maintenance procedures that fail to capture critical points of failures of production machinery. The industrial internet of things (IIOT) and the existing ecosystem of cloud platforms do not capture live data from machines to aid the engineers and technicians perform root-cause analysis for these failures or foresee some of these breakdowns ahead of time. These cost companies across multiple industries to lose millions of dollars due to unplanned maintenance work and production downtime. CORSphere’s platform aims to fill in the gap with a data centric approach and cloud computing to predict critical breakdowns and aid in root cause analysis of equipment failures.

Offshore wellness

Fatigue.  Are you ready for work?

Horizon Maritime is leading a group of Canada’s Ocean Supercluster member companies in the development of the Connected Worker Project. The project aims to “marinize” augmented/virtual reality remote support and offshore employee wellness solutions using digital technology applications.

Advanced technology company, Movella, leads the offshore wellness offering. Movella’s solutions are used by many well-recognized sports leagues and teams, as well as elite athletes and government military organizations. Combining the use of wearables and employee engagement programs, the offshore wellness solution is now integrating marine environment data to factor in the harsh environmental conditions workers face as they carry out both physically and mentally challenging tasks.

The goal of this solution is to proactively understand the physical and mental health including fatigue, strain, and recovery of the overall crew when working in challenging environments, to help reduce incidents and create a safer, healthier, and more satisfied workforce, for the benefit of both employer and employees.

Copsys Technologies Inc.

Copsys Technologies has developed a breakthrough paint-based technology that promises to disrupt corrosion protection and asset integrity management processes, including corrosion under insulation (CUI). Copsys Intelligent Digital Skin (CIDS) replaces current laborious and wasteful manual hunting for CUI with persistent digital presence to detect and locate CUI exposure in real time – before damage can occur – to assure timely low-cost and effective remediation, with minimal business disruption.

CIDS introduces ultra-low power coating-integrated impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) to prevent corrosion following coating barrier damage, and behaves as a digital, feeling skin to enable live digital twin integration for real-time detection and location of coating barrierdamage, without the need for visual inspection.

Avalon Holographics

Avalon Holographics has developed the world’s most advanced, natural 3D light field display that will revolutionize the way people view and produce visual content. The display industry is approaching an inflection point and the next wave of display technology will rely on comfortable, accessory-free 3D holographics. Avalon’s displays create a 3D experience on a flat screen by reproducing light as it would reflect off real objects to produce an incredibly lifelike experience for multiple viewers that is superior to any competitive solutions in development. The displays change the way users view and interact in 3D with complex multi-dimensional information with early applications ranging from defence, medical imaging, and industrial design to advertising and entertainment. Light field displays are an effective tool for visualizing 3D and multi-dimensional images, animations, and video with depth and spatial characteristics. Users do not require any head mounted equipment or glasses, and experience 3D without the nausea, fatigue, and other physical effects of using current virtual and augmented/mixed reality devices. Avalon Holographics now has prototype displays available for testing and purchase.
