Call for Nominations 

Nominations are now open for the techNL Board of Directors for 2026.

  • Nominations open: Thursday, March 26, 2026
    Nominations close: Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 11:59 PM (NDT)

Regular Members in good standing may nominate candidates and stand for election.

Open Positions (New Director Appointments – 2026 AGM)

techNL is currently seeking nominations for the following Board positions:

    • • Two (2) Enumerated Director positions
      Chosen by the Governance Committee from eligible nominated candidates (including eligible self-nominations from Regular Members), based on the skills and perspectives needed on the Board. Final candidates are approved by the Board and presented to members for a vote at the AGM.
    • • One (1) At-Large Director position
      Elected by techNL members via a competitive ballot from eligible nominated candidates (including eligible self-nominations from Regular Members), following Governance Committee review to ensure alignment with Board needs.

These positions reflect the Board composition as defined in the bylaws: up to eight (8) enumerated directors and two (2) at-large directors, plus one Past Chair (non-voting).

Directors Standing for Election at the AGM (Continuing Directors)  

In addition to the open Board positions outlined above, the following current directors will also be put forward for election at the AGM as Enumerated Directors in accordance with techNL’s bylaws:

These director positions are in addition to the open positions listed above.

We note that only directors whose terms have expired will be up for election and voted on by the membership at the AGM. Each director standing for election is voted on individually by the membership.

Eligibility

To be eligible for nomination, candidates must:

  • • Be an owner or employee of a techNL Regular Member organization
  • • Be nominated by a Regular Member in good standing

What is a Regular Member?
A Regular Member organization is a private-sector entity (such as a corporation, partnership, sole proprietorship, or joint venture) that is actively engaged in or supports the technology and innovation sector in Newfoundland and Labrador, supports techNL’s purpose, and holds full voting rights within the Association.

This includes:

  • • Tech companies
  • • Tech-enabled companies
  • • Sponsored startup members
  • • Service providers

The following are not eligible:

  • • Alliance (non-voting) members, including:
    • • Government departments and agencies
    • • Crown corporations
    • • Public institutions (e.g., post-secondary institutions)
    • • Industry associations

Self-nominations are permitted, provided the nominee:

  • • Meets the eligibility criteria, and
  • • Is affiliated with a Regular Member organization in good standing, which must be identified in the nomination

Good standing is required at the time of nomination and voting.

    Candidate Profile

    The Governance Committee is seeking candidates who bring a mix of skills, experience, and perspectives to the Board.

    We encourage nominations of individuals who:

    • • Bring senior leadership experience in the tech sector or related industries
    • • Have experience in areas such as:
      • • Scaling companies and growth-stage leadership
      • • Finance and governance
      • • Human resources
      • • Immigration and workforce growth
      • • Government relations
      • • Legal
      • • Supply chain and logistics
      • • Defence and dual-use technologies
    • • Are motivated to contribute to sector growth, influence, and ecosystem development
    • • Can commit the time and actively engage in Board and committee work

    The Nomination Process

    There are two ways to participate:

          1. Nominate a Candidate

    Submit a nomination using the Nomination Form. techNL will contact the nominee with instructions to complete the Board Application Form.

           2. Self-Nomination

    Submit a Board Application Form directly. A separate nomination form is not required.

    Nomination Deadline

    Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 11:59 PM (NDT)

    To be considered:

    • • A completed Nomination Form must be submitted by the deadline
    • • Nominees must complete a Board Application Form

    Nominees will be contacted directly by techNL with instructions to complete their application.

    Additional Requirements

    • • Both the nominating organization and nominee must be techNL Regular Members in good standing
    • • Each member organization may nominate one (1) individual
