Investment, Influence, and Sector Momentum
2025 was a year of measurable momentum with Newfoundland and Labrador tech companies raising 78% of announced equity funding and deals in Atlantic Canada, helping position the province as the #1 startup ecosystem in Atlantic Canada.
For techNL, the year was marked by important progress across talent, member support, sector visibility, and long-term organizational sustainability. techNL advanced work to support talent attraction and retention through a new five-year Labour Market Partnership with the Province extending to 2030, launched the Tech Sector Group Health Plan as a new member benefit, and helped ensure member priorities were visible during a provincial election year.
Through the High School Tech Immersion Program, techNL also expanded early exposure to tech careers across the province, with 20 placements outside the Avalon region, including nine in Labrador.Throughout the year, techNL worked with members, partners, government, and ecosystem stakeholders to support sector growth through talent development, business development, visibility, influence, and community-building.
This report highlights the people, programs, partnerships, and outcomes that shaped techNL’s work in 2025. It reflects a sector that is becoming more connected, more visible, more ambitious, and more successful— and a community working together to build a more competitive and resilient tech sector for Newfoundland and Labrador.
