You will work within a multidisciplinary team advancing the analytical and algorithmic foundations of MESO for clients across renewable energy, energy diversification, ocean technology, and upstream resources.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and test numerical optimization algorithms within the MESO platform
- Structure model input/output parameters and constraints in a maintainable architecture
- Build and validate computational model prototypes
- Run parameter sweeps, scenario analyses, and sensitivity studies
- Process time-series datasets for renewable resources and system performance
- Contribute to software development workflows, documentation, and code management
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, developers, and specialists
- Document model logic, assumptions, and development progress
Qualifications:
- Completed a post-secondary program within the past two years in one of Scientific Computing, Computer Science, Optimization Modelling, or a related field
- Competence in Python and implementing numerical or optimization algorithms
- Understanding of scientific computing concepts or numerical methods
- Ability to analyze and structure complex technical problems
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a software-focused environment
Technical Assets:
- Experience with linear, nonlinear, or mixed-integer optimization
- Familiarity with optimization libraries such as Pyomo or SciPy
- Experience with time-series analysis
- Exposure to renewable energy systems, energy storage, or hybrid energy modelling
- Experience contributing to software validation or verification workflows
Funding Support Requirements:
- Able to work full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador starting January 2026.

- Candidate must not be currently enrolled as a full-time student.
This position is funded through the Graduate Transition Initiative, delivered by techNL and the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development. The initiative provides support to eligible companies that hire recent graduates into software development and tech sales roles, providing meaningful early-career experience while supporting long-term growth in NL’s tech sector.
What We Offer:
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge modeling in the renewable energy sector
- Mentorship and professional development within a growing innovation-focused firm
- Hands-on experience contributing to a proprietary software platform
