The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Designer to design and implement advanced power conversion stages used in our wireless power systems. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in high-efficiency power stage design, power conversion, motor drive systems, and thermal and EMI management, with a track record of delivering robust, production-ready solutions in industrial, automotive, or consumer power applications.
This is a design and development position with significant opportunity for technical innovation and influence on next-gen product architecture.
Your Day-to-Day at Solace Power:
Design and development of high-frequency power stages for wireless power applications (kHz–MHz range).
Develop and evaluate novel power converter topologies for high-efficiency systems.
Design DC-DC converters, high-frequency inverters, synchronous rectifiers, and associated control circuitry.
Simulate topologies & circuits and validate via bench testing.
Select and characterize wide-bandgap devices (GaN/SiC) & gate drivers for high-speed operation.
Support integration of power electronics with digital control platforms.
Collaborate with RF and mechanical teams on interface requirements and system behavior.
Participate in design reviews, test planning, and cross-functional development.
Support reliability/derating studies, fault analysis, and safety mechanisms.
Assist with certification activity & compliance (IEC/UL/automotive standards, EMI/EMC).
Develop and contribute to Solace’s IP portfolio.
Must-Have Requirements:
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- 5+ years industry experience in power electronics design.
- Proven design experience in DC-DC converters and high-frequency switching power stages.
- Strong understanding of soft-switching topologies.
- Hands-on lab experience with high-voltage/high-frequency systems.
- Deep familiarity with GaN/SiC power devices and gate drive techniques.
- Experience with EMI mitigation and power stage layout best practices.
- Experience in schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium or KiCAD.
- Strong simulation and analysis skills including SPICE, Matlab.
- Capable of performing electromagnetic FEA, including parasitic extraction, and thermal analysis.
- A good understanding of design constraints relating clearance and creepage rules.
Preferred Experience
- Wireless power systems exposure.
- Automotive power conversion, telecom, or industrial systems.
- Digital control of power electronics.
- Compliance knowledge: UL/IEC/FCC/CE, thermal and reliability design.
