A Note Regarding the 2024-25 Call for Nominations Process

The techNL Call for Nominations and links to applications for Board members have been linked above.

The Governance Committee at techNL has been evaluating the processes used to nominate and vote on Board members. They have been reviewing the bylaws and researching alternative models for our Board election process to ensure that they are transparent, meet best practice standards, and are in compliance with the provincial Corporations Act. In December/ January, techNL requested that members provide their feedback and submit any concerns on the current processes. We received eight (8) submissions which were considered in this review.

The Governance Committee has concluded that the nomination process and voting model need to be updated to reflect the needs and concerns of our membership. In addition, section 90 of the By-Laws mandates a review of the By-laws every three years. The process of reviewing and revising the bylaws and refining the nomination/voting procedure is complex and time-consuming. Therefore, techNL is engaging an outside expert to propose changes to the nomination and voting processes and refresh/amend the by-laws.

Any changes to the bylaws must be approved by a vote from the membership, so for this year we are continuing with the current election process and plan to have the updated bylaws and processes in place for the AGM in 2025.

techNL is committed to best practices and good governance. We look forward to seeing you at the AGM on May 29, 2024.
