techNL Industry Awards 2024

The fourth annual techNL Industry Awards are happening during Innovation Week, October 1-3, 2024. The awards will showcase and celebrate the incredible achievements of tech companies and innovators in the Newfoundland and Labrador tech sector. We recognize these trailblazers during Innovation Week to celebrate their success, inspire others, and foster a sense of community within the tech sector.

The awards will celebrate excellence from within Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector under the following five categories:

Tech Company of the Year Award

This award recognizes a company that has established itself as a leader in the NL tech sector. The award winner excels in strategic, product or service development, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. They are widely recognized as a pillar of the tech sector.

Genesis Centre Startup of the Year Award

This award honours an early-stage technology company (less than four years old) that has introduced something new to the market, is generating revenue, attracting talent, and creating significant excitement in the NL tech ecosystem.

Hatch Diversity in Tech Advocate Award 

This award honours an individual, team, or organization/company in the tech sector that has gone above and beyond to encourage recruitment and retention of diverse people in tech and positively influence Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) in the workplace.

Champion of Youth Award

This award recognizes a company/organization that makes an effort to employ youth/young adults as part of the staffing model and plays a valuable role in the community for positive youth development in the NL tech sector.

Community Builder Award

This award is given to an individual or company in the tech sector that has gone above and beyond to make a positive impact on their community through their contribution, commitment, and leadership in community engagement, membership, and/or charitable giving or volunteer work.

Nomination Rules

    1. Nominations must be submitted through the online form.
    2. Nominees may be awarded in multiple categories.
    3. Companies, organizations and individuals, may self-nominate. 
    4. Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee.
    5. A nominee’s supervisor, spouse, partner, or immediate family member may serve on the committee but must abstain from discussion and voting on said nominee.

Please note if any of the application responses should remain confidential. Unless otherwise noted, responses may be used to promote the winners.

Award Application Criteria

In order to qualify for this award, you or your company/organization must be:

    1. In the tech sector with a technology-based product, service, solution, system, or platform
    2. Based in Newfoundland and Labrador
    3. A techNL Member in good standing.

Timeline

    1. Application portal opens: July 31 2024*
    2. Deadline to apply: September 13, 2024 Extended until: September 18, 2024
    3. Selection process: September 16 – 27, 2024
    4. Award ceremony to announce winners: October 3, 2024 at 3:00PM
