We are currently seeking applications from qualified individuals to fulfill the role of Work-Integrated Learning Coordinator for our upcoming High School Tech Immersion Program. This position requires collaboration with employers, students, and program stakeholders to facilitate successful practical learning experiences.

The High School Tech Immersion Program offers learning and paid work opportunities for students in grades 10-12. The program is comprehensive in its design to introduce students to local companies working in tech and innovation, expose students to career pathways in technology, and enhance digital skillsets and business acumen. The program has been vastly successful, engaging more than 90 students over three years, with plans to further grow the program in the coming years.

The Work-Integrated Learning Coordinator (WILC) will act as a liaison between student teams and employers to support program objectives. The WILC will provide guidance to employers to develop meaningful student work experience projects that support student, employer, and program goals. This role will guide and counsel student teams in preparation for their WIL placement and provide consistent monitoring and leadership for completion of their work project.

Contract Details:  

  • Duration: 16 weeks, full-time employment.
  • Start Date: May 13, 2024.
  • End Date: August 30, 2024.

Contract Duties: 

  1. Collaborate with employers to design and develop project plans for student teams, defining project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  2. Collect learner profiles based on students’ relevant knowledge, interest areas, and learning and career goals.
  3. Utilize learner profiles to assign differentiated work teams that align with employer projects requirements.
  4. Develop and deliver placement preparation information and orientation for students and employers, including strategies for remote teamwork and working with diverse backgrounds.
  5. Coordinate meetings between students and employers, facilitate the development of team strategies, and communicate project management strategies effectively.
  6. Aid teams in identifying and communicating with employers when additional resources, feedback, or leadership are required.
  7. Maintain databases to track student progress and regularly communicate with program Manager, Coordinator, and stakeholders.

Skills and Experience: 

  • A diploma or degree in a field related to personnel management such as business administration, industrial relations, commerce, or completion of a professional development program in personnel administration.
  • Experience working as a staffing coordinator, personnel or recruitment officer, employment supervisor, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach or mentor individuals in a work environment, assess prior experience and interests, and lead teams to project completion.
  • Experience working with high school-aged learners is preferred.
  • Effective presentation skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage respectfully and appropriately with students from diverse backgrounds creating an environment for learning and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of managing multiple projects, timelines, and communications simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
