PAL Aerospace is currently seeking qualified applications for Designer – Structural/Mechanical.  We are recruiting for multiple positions, and open to all experience levels.  With flexibility in mind, we welcome candidates throughout Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces to apply.  Our employees can work from any of our PAL offices throughout Eastern Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design various structural, mechanical, and interior modifications, installation and/or repairs for various aircraft types, using 2D or 3D software as required.
  • Prepare production drawings including fabrication drawings, installation and assembly drawings, mission equipment installations and interface, and detail drawings, ensuring drawings meet current company standards.
  • Carry out 3D modeling of designs to validate form, fit & function.
  • Consult with engineering and management as required to ensure designs satisfies all requirements, including customer, certification, engineering and mission requirements.
  • Follow build progression and liaise with production personnel, to identify and document required design changes.  Communicate issues with engineering and management for discussion of potential solutions.
  • Ensure production drawings are kept current, following any current drawing change procedures.
  • Assist in project activities to ensure the timely execution of project objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the role of Designer – Structural/Mechanical.

Qualifications/skills required:

  • Post-Secondary Aviation/Aerospace/Mechanical Technical Education or Degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Engineering degree/diploma preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years design experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with engineering change management
  • Proficient in Autocad and Solidworks or Inventor is required.
  • Knowledge of/experience in standard aircraft structure, materials, properties, fasteners, and manufacturing processes, and operational/maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing and publication skills with strong attention to details.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
