Solace Power Inc. is seeking to hire a Financial Controller.

We are currently looking for a new team member who can help us bring to market a new class of technology that truly doesn’t exist anywhere else!

Reporting to the CFO and supported by a tightly-knit finance team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for managing financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow, financial analysis, grant writing, and tax compliance, while also advising senior management on strategic financial decisions to support company growth.

The Financial Controller will be a key driver in scaling up our finance function to meet the needs of our growing company. The challenges of growth at scale are exciting, and you’ll be at the forefront of our plans to solve them.

The Financial Controller’s Typical Day at Solace Power:

  • Oversight of the finance team’s day-to-day accounting operations (monthly close, account reconciliations), GL, AP, AR, equity, payroll, etc.
  • Direct ownership of developing, maintaining, and ensuring consistent adherence to accounting
  • Lead the coordination and optimization of tax credit programs such as SR&ED, ensuring accurate. documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements to maximize financial benefits for the
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to forecast cash flow, analyze financial performance, and assess the financial viability of strategic initiatives.
  • Research, prepare, and submit grant proposals to secure funding for company projects and
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support fundraising activities, including contributing to investment proposals, supporting due diligence, and presenting financial data to potential investors or lenders.
  • Manage all audit/review and tax related activity (federal, provincial, state, tax & other)
  • Oversee accounting consolidation of multiple entities in different
  • Help scale accounting, budgeting, and other financial operations as the company

Must-Have Requirements (like coffee in the morning):

  • A professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA)
  • 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, including 2+ years in a managerial
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external working
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, planning, and organizational
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non- financial stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to handle multiple projects
  • Versatility & ability to multi-task to meet multiple
  • Must be self-motivated, be a team player, have a strong desire to learn, and be adaptable to a fast paced, ever- changing environment.

Nice to have this too… (like dessert with every meal!):

  • Some proficiency in tax credit programs such as SR&ED
  • Experience in drafting and managing government grant proposals and navigating claims
  • History of involvement with fundraising activities and participating in investor
  • Involvement in IPOs, public company reporting, and/or investor
  • Previous engagement with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or corporate finance
  • Moderate-to-great skills in ping
