Meet the Speakers

Brian Whiteway
Brian Whiteway has over twenty five years of experience as a tech leader with multiple technology companies. He is a private and professional tech investor, and mentor for tech companies in both the software and hardware space. He is also active on the boards of several private and publicly traded technology companies and also spent several years as a board member of TechNL. He is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (B.Comm.), Saint Mary’s University (MBA),and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA, FCMA) of Newfoundland and Labrador. Brian is also a former Lecturer at the Faculty of Business at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Chris LaFleur-James

Chris Lafleur-James is a Senior Account Manager with BDC’s tech financing team, where he provides non-dilutive and flexible capital solutions for Canadian businesses in the technology sector. Chris brings a wealth of finance and banking experience to his role to support tech companies at every stage of growth. Evan Greene

Evan Greene is a Senior Account Manager and Technology Sector lead with the BDC Newfoundland and Labrador Entrepreneurship Centre Team. Evan has spent most of his career in the technology sector, having worked in a local venture capital-backed start up prior to joining BDC.  Evan is often the first point of contact for NL early-stage technology companies seeking advice and financing options to help scale their businesses. He can provide strategic insights for entrepreneurs on the full financing journey, from the first day of operations to various equity raises, and every stage of company growth in between. Evan works closely with various members of the BDC Technology Financing and BDC Capital teams to ensure NL technology entrepreneurs have access to the many resources BDC has to offer.
