AI Skills Launchpad

Building Artificial Intelligence Capacity in Data, Cybersecurity and SaaS Tech Sales

Program Overview

AI Skills Launchpad is a new upskilling initiative led by techNL, funded by $1.05 M from Upskill Canada, powered by Palette Skills, and the Government of Canada. The program takes an industry-led approach to helping Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector workers and employers build in-demand skills in artificial intelligence (AI) for data analytics and science, data engineering, cybersecurity and Software-as-a-Service sales.

In 2026, techNL will deliver specialized training for participants currently working in — or aspiring to enter — Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector. The program features four industry-validated workshops, each developed in response to skills needs identified by companies operating in the local tech sector: 1. AI for Data Science and Analytics; 2. AI for Data Engineering; 3. SaaS Tech Sales in the Age of AI; and 4. Cybersecurity.

The program will place a strong emphasis on engaging diversity-priority groups, including women, newcomers, racialized individuals, and persons with disabilities. Training will blend technical instruction, applied case-based learning, and direct engagement with employers across Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech ecosystem. Each workshop — developed with and taught by tech sector experts in related positions — will provide up to 24 hours of non-credential, industry-driven learning. Participants will include both currently employed professionals seeking career advancement and mid-career workers transitioning into technology-focused roles. More details will be released in early 2026.
