Turning Early Insight into Long-Term Value

How Angler Solutions Inc. reduces risk in complex energy projects

From offshore wind to hybrid energy systems, the clean energy transition depends on making the right decisions early. Angler Solutions Inc. helps project teams do exactly that by improving how complex energy projects are designed and evaluated, reducing risk and creating long-term value.

Angler delivers consulting and technology services across the energy and ocean technology sectors, with a focus on early-stage project development. This is the phase where technical and financial assumptions are first set, and where early choices strongly influence long-term performance, cost, and risk. Its work supports renewable energy, energy diversification, and large infrastructure projects.

At the centre of Angler’s approach is MESO, their Model for Energy Systems Optimization. Developed in-house, this advanced modelling platform brings together engineering, economics, geographic data, and optimization tools to evaluate complex energy systems. MESO allows project teams to compare options such as renewable generation, energy storage, thermal power, and hybrid systems well before making major capital investments.

Angler stands out by combining deep consulting expertise with its own proprietary technology. The team actively uses MESO in client projects to test assumptions, explore scenarios, and support more informed early investment decisions. Clients can also continue using MESO through ongoing licensing as projects evolve, enabling continuous improvement rather than one-time analysis.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech ecosystem has played an important role in Angler’s growth. Engagement with organizations such as Genesis, Foresight Canada, and techNL helped the company refine MESO’s product strategy and commercialization plans. Working with Springboard Atlantic supported intellectual property development, while funding from NRC-IRAP and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador enabled sustained applied research tied directly to MESO’s advancement.

A major milestone came when Angler advanced MESO to Technology Readiness Level 7 and deployed it in real-world consulting projects. This confirmed the platform’s ability to deliver reliable technical and economic insights at a project level. In May 2025, Angler also won the econext Clean Energy Infrastructure Optimization Challenge, reinforcing national confidence in MESO as a scalable solution.

Angler is now completing MESO’s final development phase, with full commercialization planned for 2026 through a subscription model that supports ongoing updates and optimization. At the same time, the company continues to support projects in onshore and offshore wind, green energy, energy storage, direct air capture, and carbon capture and storage.

By helping teams make better decisions earlier, Angler is shaping cleaner, more resilient energy projects from the very start.
