We are looking for a Software Development Team Lead to join our Connectivity and Integrations – Software team in St. John’s, NL or remote. In this role, you’ll lead a team of experienced developers building world-class customer experiences for IoT connectivity and Smart Home integrations. You’ll be responsible to guide the team through the software delivery lifecycle while continuously adding new capabilities and communication protocols to all of Mysa’s hardware products. Your team will design software and firmware that runs on all of Mysa’s products, apps and services.
With thousands of customers and connected devices interacting with our cloud service, the role will involve managing development of highly scalable and reliable software. Building, mentoring and monitoring the team is critical to success in this role.

What You Will Do:

    • Oversee and coordinate people, resources and processes required to deliver new software or upgrade existing products.
    • Stay informed on the latest trends in Smart Home technology.
    • Monitor the performance of team members against strategic and developmental targets.
    • Provide mentoring or training, and feedback to individuals on the team.
    • Assist the Product Manager in identifying the functional requirements and perform feasibility analysis for new software products.
    • Ensure that the team has access to the resources they need, such as computing systems, development tools and communication platforms.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to review progress and to identify potential obstacles to completion.
    • Monitor quality to ensure that products meet their technical and business objectives.
    • Inform stakeholders to update them on project status and obtain feedback.
    • Work with the other Software Development Leads to align processes and prevent duplicating effort.

Who You Are:

    • Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field combined with software development training.
    • Minimum of 10 years of relevant software development work experience.
    • Experience in managing software development teams.
    • Strong organizational leadership skills.
    • Experience with modern languages and frameworks. JavaScript, TypeScript, Python and React would be considered an asset.
    • Must be knowledgeable about industry trends and best practices.
    • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases would be considered an asset.
    • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS preferred) would be considered an asset.
    • Experience with the following tools would be considered an asset (Git, CircleCI, npm, Jira, Confluence).
    • Experience with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK preferred) would be considered as asset.
    • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes would considered an asset.
    • Analytical thinker, with a creative mind, and an adaptable nature.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present solutions, while efficiently multi-tasking various priorities
