Created in 1997, Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) is a provincial non-profit
organization committed to increasing women’s participation in trades and technology. With
private and public funding, WRDC offers a variety of programs and services to address the
challenges surrounding the attraction, recruitment, retention and advancement of women in
these careers. Our charitable arm, the Educational Resource Centre (ERC), was created in 2002,
to provide hands-on learning and career exploration opportunities for younger women and girls
in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager Career Services, the Career & Employment Specialist will provide career
development and employment assistance services to clients at all stages of the career cycle. They
also develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate programs and services to ensure outcomes are
achieved and WRDC standards, guidelines and policies are maintained. A sophisticated level of
professionalism, confidentiality and discretion is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Support clients to identify and overcome barriers to employment and life success
• Conduct orientation sessions and preliminary needs assessment
• Identify client’s eligibility for various services, refer to appropriate services
• Co-create an action plan for each qualified client based on the results of relevant
assessments, critical evaluation, and use of career resources, labour market information,
and educational/training information
• Provide ongoing support and monitor client progress
• Provide clear and concise information to clients ensuring they understand their rights,
responsibilities, and limits to confidentiality
• Keep active connections with employment agencies, community supports and local
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labour market information regarding trades and
technology careers
• Develop and facilitate approved presentations, workshops, meetings or conferences;
support the coordination of logistics, scheduling and participant communications
• Recruit and oversee delivery of the Orientation to Trades and Technology program
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing
information in all matters of importance or as requested
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders
• Program coordination including recommendations of new or revised program goals,
develop and monitor work plan in accordance with program objectives, monitor program
expenditures, and coordinate daily activities
• Maintain accurate records, ensure all forms and waivers are signed, provide activity and
output reports as directed
• Other duties as requested

Qualifications and Requirements
• Completion of a related post-secondary program OR equivalent in education and related
work experience required
• Preference will be given to applicants who have achieved Certified Career Development
Professional (CCDP) designation or can demonstrate partial completion
• Demonstrated experience in the following areas: career development, employment
assistance services, employment counselling/coaching, case management, curriculum
development, group facilitation, intake/needs assessment, job/work development, and
program coordination/management
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities/projects and producing results
within deadline
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining links to business, industry,
government, educational institutions, associations, and community services
• High degree of computer literacy and advanced working knowledge of computer
programs, including Microsoft 365 applications
• Exceptional organizational skills, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to
work with minimal supervision
• High regard for confidentiality, quality, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Related experience in the not-for-profit sector and demonstrated working knowledge of
community-based programs, program development, coordination, and delivery is
considered an asset
• Business travel insurance coverage is required for this role and will be reimbursed in
accordance with WRDC policies
• Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon employment and
every two years there after

Salary Range: $45,000 – $55,000 per annum. WRDC offers a competitive compensation and
benefits package. Starting salary will commensurate with experience and skills.
