BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Mark Cumby

DIRECTOR

A native Newfoundlander, Mark was raised in the town of Heart’s Content, Trinity Bay. After graduating from Memorial University in mechanical engineering in 1993, like many young engineers, Mark started his career in Alberta. Since then, he had the opportunity to work on multiple energy projects in Canada, the United States, the North Sea, Africa, and Australia.

Accomplished in project management, engineering management, and general business management, Mark has demonstrated a “customer first” focus, with a keen ability to get deliverables driven to closure. He is recognized by his colleagues and clients for his effective problem-solving skills and business acumen.

In 2012, Mark got the calling to come home when he had the opportunity to work on the Hebron Project. After completing four years on the project, Mark brought all his experience and market knowledge to Hatch Ltd., and has continued to successfully lead the oil and gas business development effort in St. John’s. He is presently Regional Director, Energy for Eastern North America.

Mark is a practicing member of PEGNL. Actively involved in the community and in mentoring young engineers, Mark is passionate about supporting engineering student initiatives at Memorial University, with Hatch most recently sponsoring the Paradigm Hyperloop team again in 2019. He is a past board member of the St. John’s Legends Swim Club, and served as Vice President of Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador. Mark also currently serves on three NOIA subcommittees: Diversity & Inclusion, NOIA Conference Technical Sessions, and the co-lead NATI Digital Transformation Working Group.
